In 1961 the Radio Electrical TV Retailers Association formalised their purchasing power into the buying group and retail stores ‘Retravision’. Now an Australian household name, it began with a small number of members in Victoria.
Retravision has stores right across Australia, many in regional and country towns. Stores are privately owned and operated, backed by professional management at regional and national level.
The man that runs the store – owns the store. Stores are deeply involved in their local communities, supporting local clubs and organisations.
The challenge for any franchised based retailer is how to deliver an eCommerce offering without disparity pricing issues with over 400 stores, all of which have autonomy over their own pricing. To view one price online and then go in store to see a completely different price causes consumer frustration and confusion.
To overcome this challenge Vivid Group have developed a very sophisticated Microsoft .NET application that replicates pricing for 40,000 products across nearly 400 stores to deliver over 10,000,000 pricing variations on the fly dependent upon your closest store.
Vivid’s solution aggregates SKU, product and pricing from disparate sources into one integrated Web presence. Delivered seamlessly to the consumer, one wouldn’t know the complexity of this application that ensures franchisees are promoted and not undercut online.
All powered by a Microsoft .NET Content Management System, Retravision have full autonomy over the Websites content. The homepage comprises numerous promotion areas that can be managed at a regional and or national level including:
- Featured Promotions in the main hero image area
- Services & Redemptions
- Portals to promote Web Specials, Best Sellers & Top Rated
Promotions consist of a graphic tile and link to either an external or internal webpage for more information and where applicable to allow users to apply for a redemption.
Promotions can be specified at a National level and overwritten by regional administrators for region specific details on the national promotion or a region can create their own promotions.
Once a visitor enters the site they can change their store at any time using the store locator found on every page.
This control displays the users currently selected store in addition to options to:
- View the store homepage
- View the store location on a map or
- Email the store.
Geo-coding is used to obtain the latitude and longitude information for each store, then calculate the distance between all stores and present the user with a list of stores that are within x km’s of the currently selected store.
